This is how to entery Credit card charges and payments into desktop QB versions:

Entering Credit Card charges directly into QuickBooks through the Enter Credit Card Charges window. You can also pay the Credit Card with a check. See below for more detailed information.

Solution Description

To enter the Credit Card charges:
  1. From the Banking menu, select Enter Credit Card Charges.
  2. In the Enter Credit Card Charges window, choose a credit card account in the Credit Card drop down box in the top left.
  3. Under Purchased From, choose the vendor used your credit card at.
  4. Under the expenses tab or items tab, fill in the expenses/items that you want to track as a credit card purchase.
  5. Click OK.

Note: This puts the amount you owe the credit card in the credit card account (other current liability) under the Chart of Accounts.

To Pay the Credit Card:
  1. From the Banking menu, select Write Checks.
  2. In the Bank Account drop down in the top left, choose the bank account you are paying the credit card from (ex. Checking).
  3. Under the Expenses tab, choose the Credit Card account.
  4. Enter the amount you want to pay towards the credit card in the Amount column under the Expenses tab.
  5. Click Save & Close.

Note: This will reduce the Credit Card amount by the amount that you pay through the Write Checks window.
